StreakScribe is designed with privacy as a core principle. We do NOT read, store, or transmit your actual writing content. The extension only counts words to track your writing progress. All data stays on your device.

2. How Your Data Is Stored

2.1 Local Storage (Default)

All StreakScribe data is stored locally on your device using Chrome's chrome.storage.local API. This data:

  • Never leaves your computer
  • Is not accessible to us or any third party
  • Is deleted when you uninstall the extension
  • Can be manually cleared at any time through extension settings

2.2 Chrome Sync (Optional)

If you enable Chrome Sync in your browser settings, your StreakScribe data may be synced across your devices via your Google account. This sync is controlled by your Chrome/Google settings, not by us.

3. Third-Party Services

3.1 ExtensionPay (Premium Purchases Only)

If you purchase StreakScribe Premium, payment processing is handled by ExtensionPay. We receive only a confirmation of your premium status - we do NOT receive or store your payment details.

3.2 No Analytics or Tracking

StreakScribe does NOT use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any analytics or tracking services.

4. How We Use Your Data

The data stored locally on your device is used solely to:

  1. Display your current word count
  2. Calculate your writing streak
  3. Track progress toward daily goals
  4. Unlock achievements based on milestones
  5. Show historical writing statistics
  6. Maintain your personalized settings

We have no access to this data and cannot use it for any purpose.

5. Data Retention and Deletion

Retention

Your data persists on your local device until you uninstall the extension, clear extension data through Chrome settings, or use the "Reset Data" option in extension settings.

Deletion

You can delete all StreakScribe data at any time via:

  • Extension Settings > Reset Data
  • Chrome Extensions page > Remove Extension
  • Chrome Settings > Privacy and Security > Clear Browsing Data

6. Data Security

Since all data is stored locally on your device, your data is protected by your device's security measures. We cannot be breached because we don't store your data.

7. Children's Privacy

StreakScribe does not knowingly collect information from children under 13. The extension does not require any personal information to function.
